Thank you to Rotary Club members – Bridget, Keith and Tony – for presenting year 4 with our very own personalised dictionaries today. We enjoy reading with you every week and are going to love using our fabulous new dictionaries!
Finchley class have had such a spectacular World Book Day. We have made our own bookmarks, had a music lesson, talked about our favourite books and characters, met an inspirational author and shared lots of stories.
At Wensum Junior we celebrate reading all the time and encourage children to read every day. Today we focused on sharing stories with each other. The children shared their favourite book and if they didn’t have the book they retold it with actions – which was amazing!
Rebecca Wright, the author of Simon and the Magic Drums, came and ran a fab workshop with the children. They read some of the story, played games, used their imagination to bring things to life and discussed how everyone is different – ‘‘I am the only and the BEST me there is!’’
Year 3 (Finchley) and Speke class got together this afternoon to share some of their favourite stories and books. In the first of our paired reading sessions we spent 30 minutes with the children being able to read and enjoy the sunshine outside too!
We will get together again in 2 weeks!
Mr Whalen and Miss Burr
Year 5 pupils from Turner class received their own personal dictionaries today from Tony Darwood and Bridget Youngs (Rotary Club).
All year 4 and 5 pupils will receive these over the next few days.
Thank you very much.
