1st March

This morning Year 4 have continued their preparation for the storytelling session at Nelson on Friday. The students from the UEA who will be working with the children over the coming weeks visited today to meet them and see them in action. They listened to the children retelling their Indian stories and gave them feedback on how to improve them. The children have two days to get ready for their first performances in front of a real audience. Exciting times.

24th February – Performance times announced for Year 3 and 6

Hi all,

We are pleased to announce the performance times for Year 3 and Year 6 on Friday 24th March.

Year 6 will be performing their piece of physical theatre and circus at The Oak Circus Hub at 1.30pm.
Year 3 will be performing their puppet show at Wensum Junior School at 3.30pm.

A letter will go out next week with more details and a reply slip to indicate how many seats are required. The timings have been agreed with our arts partners to allow families that need it, time to get from the Year 6 performance to Nelson and then on to us for the puppet show.

Year 5 Planning with Sistema

Getting down to the nitty-gritty and creating suggestions for the name of our opera company.

Next week, the whole year group will make the final selection for the name of the company and the title too! We also came up with some character names, the rest of the group will finalise when we next meet.

Some of the designers learnt how to make scale models and build a model set.

22nd February

Year 6 have now moved into the final phase of their work with LiT. With 5 weeks to go before the performance at Oak Circus Hub, the children have selected the core skill they want to focus on (hula hoops, acrobalance, juggling). They will now remain in these groups as they develop their routines ready for the performance. I had the pleasure of working with the juggling group this afternoon and was amazed at their confidence and proficiency as they worked on core skills and developed ideas for independent and paired routines. Mr H.

Tuesday 21st February

Please keep Friday 24th March free. Both Year 6 and Year 3 will be in action on that day with their public performances which will bring their work as artists to a climax. We are in the process of carefully scheduling the performances so that families with siblings in both year groups get to see both performances and make the necessary collections if there are other siblings at Nelson! Just so you know, the Lost In Translation performance will be at their Oak Street Hub base on Colgate, and the Puppet show will be in school. Details to follow.
