6th October – Wensum v Angel Road

Our school football team had their first league match of the season on Thursday against Angel Road.

With a selection of new faces from the new Y5’s Wensum looked the part in their new kit and certainly showed signs of improvements from last season. Led by the newly appointed captain James, the team was looking to build on last seasons positives.

New faces and the same positive attitude certainly helped but a opening fixture loss was possibly not the best reflection of the players performances.

Molly F has written a match report and has asked my to share it with you. Find this below, along with some pictures taken by Mrs Humphrey! Many thanks to all the families, staff and ex pupils that turned up to support our team, I know how much your support and encouragement means to them!!

Mr W!

Wensum v Angel Road

Reported by Molly F (Y6)

It was a tough game. Joseph made some excellent saves, Lennon had a load of chances and scored a lovely goal which went flying into the net to make it 1-0.

Then a couple of us switched off and they scored from a quickly taken corner. That’s when Bobby and James started to turn up their voices and we all realised that we need to listen and switch on. However, they scored again just before the end of the first half.

Half Time – Wensum 1 – 2 Angel Road

Then Mr W made a few changes. Oliver went on a skillful run and nearly scored. Unfortunately he scuffed his shot and missed.

The final score was 5-1 and we were gutted to have lost – but we still tried our hardest. The man of the match was Munir for his outstanding performance in midfield and great set up for Lennon’s goal.

Final Score – Wensum 1 – 5 Angel Road

Wensum Team: Joseph, Lennon, Bobby, Molly, Tiago, James (c), Riley F, Arlo, Findlay, Munir and Oliver.

Next Fixture: Thursday 20th October – St. Michaels (Away)
