Today, Finchley class had their first Forest School session!
We created dream-catchers made of willow, made crowns, made some beautiful leaf impressions, worked well as a team to build a strong den and used our imagination. Under the tree stumps we found worms and woodlice and observed them using magnifying glasses.
I have seen some brilliant, mature team work skills today and the children came up with some powerful language to describe objects and activities:
“Look at this leaf, it’s like burning fire!”
“We need to get rid of the bad sticks from the den – like we get rid of bad teeth!”
Thank you for a lovely first Forest School session Finchley class! Next week we will be: pond dipping (hopefully tree climbing!) exploring more mini-beasts and learning how to build a fire before we have one at the end of term.
