January 2017

We have just received some very exciting news.  Wensum Junior School has been successful in its bid for funding to transform the school field.  We have bid for a pond, outdoor classroom, story-telling circle and fire pit, wildflower planting and a community orchard.  This represents a huge opportunity for the school community.

Background to the project

Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork on its Bags of Help initiative in hundreds of regions across England and Wales. The scheme will see  three community groups and projects in each of the regions awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge.  We are one of the three projects shortlisted for the awards. This means that we have secured at ;east £8,000, and if we are successful in the popular vote in stores could be awarded the additional money.

What next?

Details of the three shortlisted projects in our area will appear in stores between September 26th and October 9th.  Please go along and vote for us.  And don’t forget to spread the word!  Watch this space for further details and to see how the project develops.
