What a start back to the new year. Year 3, 4 and 5 were joined by Duncan and Charlie from The Common Lot, Jeannette Baxter from Anglia Ruskin University, and very special guest Professor Kirby-Beden to launch the project. After an introductory assembly where the irrepressible Prof K-B gave us a whistle-stop tour through 900 years of Norwich’s rich history, Duncan and Jeannette explained all about the upcoming project and what it means to work as historians. The children then enjoyed a carousel of activities which included a drama workshop, learned more about Norwich’s fascinating origins and development, and learned to sing ‘Come Yew In!’, the lead-off song from The Common Lot’s 2017 award winning show of the same name which was all about Norwich’s rich history of welcoming people from all over the world. The children then performed the song to families at the end of the school day. Tomorrow, the children will be going on city walks to find out more. To launch their project, Year 6 undertook a visit to Anglia Square. We look forward to finding out all about this tomorrow. Enjoy the gallery.
