28th February – The Big Dig

Thanks to Em and Nige from Goldcrest Outdoor Education for organising a great day today. So much has been achieved. 55 mixed hedge saplings planted, 4 local variety fruit trees planted (2 apple, 2 pear) for our community orchard, one pond profiled and lined with carpet, one ‘turf sofa’ sculpted and the Forest School gathering circle cleared. We even had a visit from the press! 160 children took part, and a very special thanks to the 8 parent volunteers who gave up their time to work with us today. Thank you all! The next job will be to get the pond securely enclosed with the fence after which we can line and fill it before planting it up. These jobs should take place over the next couple of weeks. Watch this space.
