10th February

Drake class spent the day at Tesco – Blue Boar Lane –  following the Farm to Fork trails!!

Drake class had an amazing day exploring the shelves of Tesco’s. Hunting for Fairtrade products, finding out how much sugar is in your breakfast cereal and finding out how to open a banana properly. Along with trying many new fruit, veg and healthy snacks throughout the day!! The children worked hard and represented the school to the highest level!! Check out the pictures in the gallery above!!

Drake Class would like to extend a massive thank you to Shez and Emma from Tesco who were excellent hosts and also to our two parent helpers – Mrs Parkins and Miss Leadbetter – Thank you all!!

Feedback from the class –

When we got back we talked about what we had learnt during the day and below are some of the things that the children said!

“I loved how we got to taste the chocolate and that we got to find out where the cocoa beans came from. I didn’t know this before we went.” (Dylan)

“I liked it because it was amazing and we had to try new things out and got to taste new foods.” (Faye)

“We learnt that a bunch of bananas is called a ‘hand’!” (Ben)

“I liked the trip but the fish that we tried was a little bit salty!” (Isabella)

“It was the best trip I’ve been on, I had a great day!” (Aland)

Year 3 would recommend this visit and would urge any local schools to get in touch with their local Tesco’s directly to see what they can offer!
