Year 5 carry out a day long science experiment!

On Wednesday, Year 5 spent the day investigating whether there is a relationship of movement between the earth and the sun!  First, we discussed how we could use a metre stick, a traffic cone and some chalk to test our hypothesis that the stick’s shadow will move and change length as the school day went on.  Then, at 11.15, we went out onto the playground to set up our experiment and to draw our first chalk line along the stick’s shadow.  After that, we took it in turns to go out every 30 minutes to draw a new chalk line, and take a new measurement.

As you can see from the photos, we had lots of fun and got some amazing results!
