Thursday 9th November – thanks Y5 for a wonderful day!

I had the privilege to teach Heigham class today.  We started the day in Turner Class where Miss Lewis taught a short 10 minute mini lesson to the whole of Year 5 on division before sending Heigham back to their class to work on a short independent task before break.  After break, the two classes worked with Anna (Sistema) to find out what an opera is (a story that is entirely sung) and how a good story is structured. There was more maths, before the classes started their work on rocks. Working in pairs they were to start preparing content for a non-chronological report on rocks.  The rest of the morning was spent on this and the children really shone – such independence and hard work!  6 in 5 started the afternoon; more work on the rock reports, and then a class circle to end the day, with Freya chairing the class meeting on the issues emerging from school council.  It was also great to see the volunteers from the Rotary Club listening to readers.  All that remains is to congratulate our children on their performance at cross country today.  Well done.

Thank you for a great day and see you tomorrow.
