2nd December – Working as Historians (Summer 2017)

While the whole school was focussed on preparations for the Christmas Fair, Mr Hubery met with local historian (and frequent visitor to WJS) Neil Storey to complete an ‘expression of interest’ form for the Heritage Lottery Fund. In this form we articulated our ideas for our summer term Working as Historians project. The HLF team will give us feedback which we will then use when we write our application early in the new year. We are seeking £10,000 from the fund to support the project.

The project: We will use the St Barnabas Church Honour Roll of ‘Our Lads’; the young men from the Heigham community who died in World War 1, as the starting point for a wide ranging local history project exploring their individual stories as well as those of their families and the local community 100 years ago.
