Today we worked with Tin House to create incredible Maassai Shields. We began with a discussion about the symbols and colours on the tribal shields and then sketched our own versions.
Large pieces of cardboard were then used to create the shields. We enjoyed threading and attaching wood to the structure for support. Acrylic paint was used to transfer our designs from the sketch to the cardboard shield. We worked collaboratively to create fabulous designs, they included Mount Kenya, the Kenyan flag, stars, swirls, Kenyan animals and even dolphins!
We look forward to working with Ali again next week when we will be creating large scale African animals.
Have a lovely weekend.
